First Take: Big Easy at Resorts World Sentosa

Listen, people. Here’s a potentially awesome new haunt for live music and dancing!

We’ve read about it in the Straits Times article that listed the Big Easy as a New Orleans / Cajun-themed bar. Intriguing! So last night JUYL decided to recce the Big Easy and see what’s in store.

The bar is the first in a row of eateries at RW’s Festive Walk area, just opposite the entrance to Universal Studios. The atmosphere was pretty comfy and relaxed, with a bar on one side and dining area on the other, and photos of Louis and Ella on the wall. And of course we posed:

Ta Dah! Soon this place will be Swingin!

So about the music. There was no band yet, but conversations with the manager revealed that a band from New Orleans that promises “friendly jazz” will start playing on 1 May 2010. They’re scheduled to play Wednesdays-Sundays from 8.00-11.00pm.

We’re not sure yet what brand of Jazz the band will be playing but looking at the restaurant’s theme I sure hope it’s traditional Jazz.Β  While we were there the ambiance music were mostly Lindy-friendly! A good sign if it indicates in any way the music we can expect from the band!

The dancefloor is cement and a little rough but not entirely undanceable. And we swingers will definitely smoothen it out in no time πŸ˜‰ The bar is also willing to clear some of the tables for dancing space around the stage if things get hot.

Maybe we should pay the band a visit on their first night there and liven up the place with some swinging!

  1. Great job, guys! I was at Universal Studios yesterday and passed by the Big Easy too! Plus, while waiting for the rides, there was some sort of infomercial thing playing on the TVs and the part which promoted the 1950s style drive-in diner (where I actually had my lunch later that day) featured swing dancers πŸ˜‰ The “New York” section of the theme park was also broadcasting great swingy jazz music…perfect occasion for a lindy bomb! πŸ˜‰
